The must see sight in Southport apart from the beaches has to be the famous pier. Southport Pier, the second largest pier in the UK, was reopened in 2002 after a massive restoration project and now has even more to entice visitors than ever before, including new places to relax and chill out as you take in the glorious views.
If you like amusement parks then youll just love Pleasureland. As one of the countrys largest amusement parks youll discover white knuckle rides galore, such as the popular Lucozade Spaceshot and The Tramatizer. There are also less terrifying options to cater for the younger visitors too.
Ocean Plaza consists of a range of entertainment facilities including a modern 7-screen cinema complex, a health and fitness centre, and a good range of shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. Its the ideal venue to keep the whole family entertained.
Whilst in Southport a visit to the Marine Lake is a must. This huge lake is the place to spot The Southport Belle, a traditional Mississippi paddle steamer on which you can take a leisurely cruise. Or if you are the more adventurous type you can try your hand at sailing, water-skiing and the likes.
Kids and railway enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy the Southport Model Railway Village, set over an acre and a half of picturesque landscape. It is also the ideal place to stop off and feast on a good old-fashioned family picnic.
