Southport is often referred to as the jewel of Englands north west coast. This is a pretty apt name as for many people in and around the area, its the seaside town of choice that they flock to come at the first sign of the good weather.
Although it has been a popular seaside resort for some 200 years now, new recent investment has ensured that whilst retaining most of its original character, it continues to attract new visitors. You can therefore expect to find the same fabulous beaches and the picturesque promenade, and of course Southport Pier. Yet youll also be able to enjoy a number of more modern attractions such as the Ocean Plaza complex and an array of modern rides on offer at Pleasureland.
Southport also has an increasing number of regular events that bring visitors back to the area year after year. The start of the season sees the likes of the Southport Spring Garden Festival in the grounds of Meols Halls. As for the summer season, theres the Southport Pier Extravaganza, the Southport International Jazz Festival, an annual carnival, and the Music in the Park concert.
